Appliance removal in Colorado Springs
The old washer leaves the basement without you lifting it, anywhere in Colorado Springs.
Justin, the owner of Junkernaut Junk Removal, handles appliance removal in Colorado Springs and across the Pikes Peak region. He carries old washers, dryers, stoves and dishwashers out of the house and hauls them off. Call or text (719) 246-8422 for a price. What makes this job hard is the weight and the tight spots. A washer sits wedged in a laundry closet or at the bottom of the basement stairs, and it has to come out past door frames and a tight turn at the landing.
A lot of these calls start with a new appliance. The new washer goes in, and the old one ends up in the garage with nowhere to go. A landlord or property manager calls with a dead stove in a rental between tenants. Fridges and freezers are covered under refrigerator removal, since anything with freon carries an add-on this job usually doesn't.
Nothing has to be dragged to the curb first. Justin comes to where the appliance sits, in an upstairs laundry room or the back corner of the garage, and loads it himself. He's open 24/7 with a two-hour arrival window, and pickup can be same day, most days. He covers the city and the towns around Colorado Springs that he drives to, from Monument down to Fountain.

What's usually in an appliance pickup
The usual job is one or two heavy pieces. A washer and dryer pair after an upgrade. A range and the dishwasher next to it, pulled out in a kitchen remodel. Stoves can be gas or electric, and an old wall oven or cooktop goes out the same way as a freestanding range.
These are square, heavy boxes with hoses and cords hanging off the back, and they don't break down the way a bed frame or a bookshelf does. Most of them are more than one person wants to move alone, which is why they sit in the garage for months. If the basement has more than appliances in it, the boxes stacked beside them can ride on the same load.
How Justin gets a washer up the basement stairs
Justin walks the path before he lifts anything. On a basement job that means the stairs and the tight turn at the landing, since that's where most of the work on an appliance happens. A washer comes up a stairwell one step at a time. A stacked washer and dryer in a hall closet is the same idea, just taller. Upstairs laundry rooms work the same way in reverse, down the stairs and out the front door.
He loads it on the Ford F-150 himself. He's the one who priced the job and answered the phone, so there's no crew to explain the access to. In a rental, a property manager can book the pickup and tell Justin how he gets in and who to meet on site, which keeps the tenant out of the back and forth. Since he's open 24/7, the pickup can be set for a time that fits the tenant turnover or the new appliance delivery.
Where an old dryer ends up
Washers, dryers and stoves are mostly steel, so most of an appliance load goes to a Colorado Springs metal recycler. Donation still comes first, with Arc, Goodwill and Habitat for Humanity, so a dryer that still runs gets that look before it goes anywhere else. A dishwasher pulled in a kitchen remodel takes the same route as the range beside it, donation if it still works, then the metal recycler.
Whatever can't be donated or sent for metal, like a cracked plastic door panel or the junk packed around it, goes to East Landfill or Midway Landfill as real trash, or through the El Paso County transfer station. If the pickup includes a flat screen or other electronics from the same room, those get split out as e-waste and kept apart from the metal.
What it costs to haul off a washer or stove
Justin charges by how much room the load takes on the truck, with a $225 minimum. A single dryer takes little room. A washer and dryer pair plus a range takes more and costs more. A gas stove and an electric stove are priced the same way, by the room each one takes. Either way it's one number for the whole job, and it doesn't change once the appliances are loaded. Loading, hauling and disposal are inside that number, and dump fees are never billed separately.
The one add-on that comes up on appliance jobs is freon. A fridge, a chest freezer or a window air conditioner adds +$40 each on top of the space it takes. Washers, electric stoves and dishwashers have no freon in them. Justin takes cash, credit or debit card, Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, Apple Pay, Google Pay or a check. The junk removal cost guide for Colorado Springs shows how truck space sets the price. Call or text (719) 246-8422.
What Justin leaves behind on an appliance job
A few things that sit near old appliances stay put. Justin doesn't take propane tanks or fuel, so the tank off the patio grill and the gas can parked beside the dryer in the garage stay where they are. He doesn't take asbestos either. In an older basement, the wrap on pipes and ductwork around the laundry corner can be asbestos, and that stays behind with the house.
Medical or biohazard waste stored on a laundry room shelf or in the garage stays behind as well. The dryer or stove that sat next to any of it still goes on the truck. It helps to have those things moved out of the path before he arrives, so the washer or the stove can come straight out to the truck.
How the price works
Call or text (719) 246-8422. Justin looks at how much room it takes on the truck and gives you one number for the whole job. The number doesn't change once it's loaded. Jobs start at $225. The only add-ons: tire +$10, anything with freon +$40, mattress or box spring +$40. More on how pricing works.
