Hourly labor in Colorado Springs
Heavy pieces carried out from the room they sit in, anywhere in Colorado Springs.
Justin Winterbower runs Junkernaut Junk Removal in Colorado Springs, and hourly labor is the job he does when the carrying is the hard part. He works all over the Pikes Peak region. Call or text (719) 246-8422 with the room the heavy piece sits in. This is the call for heavy things stuck in awkward spots. A sleeper sofa in a finished basement is a good example. A dresser wedged at the top of a tight staircase fits too. Justin does the lifting and the loading himself, stairs included, and hauls the load away when it's done.
Homeowners call when something is too heavy or too far from the door to move alone. Landlords and property managers call between tenants, and business managers call when a storage room or an old office has to be emptied and nobody on staff has the back for it. The couch can stay right where it is until he gets there. Justin walks in, sees where each piece sits and carries it out from there. He's open 24/7, books a two-hour arrival window and can come same day, most days.
He answers the phone himself, so the person you describe the stairs to is the person who walks them. To check whether a heavy piece is something he'll load, see the items Justin puts on his truck. Hourly labor isn't limited to the city either. Justin keeps a list of every town he drives to in the Pikes Peak region, from Monument and Falcon to Fountain and Manitou Springs.

When the heavy part is the carrying
Hourly labor is the job for a load that's mostly muscle. Most of these piles are a few big, awkward pieces and whatever has collected around them over the years. A sectional that barely made it down the basement stairs. A treadmill in the spare bedroom. A chest freezer in the garage with old tool chests stacked on top.
Homeowners call after a move or a remodel leaves heavy things stranded upstairs or down. Managers call when an office has old desks and filing cabinets nobody wants to lift. When a whole business space has to be emptied, the commercial clean out page covers that bigger job. A basement clean out is the bigger job at home, for when the whole floor has to be emptied and not just the heavy pieces. Hourly labor fits the smaller, harder case, where a handful of heavy pieces have to come out of tight places and onto the truck.
What Justin leaves behind on a labor job
Justin turns down four kinds of things, and labor jobs turn them up often because the pile comes out of garages and basements nobody has sorted in years. Propane tanks stay. If a gas grill is going, the grill goes on the truck and the tank stays on the patio. Fuel stays too, so the gas can by the lawn mower and the old jugs on the garage shelf are left where they sit. Asbestos is refused, and so is medical or biohazard waste. Anything hazardous stays off the truck.
If you know one of those is in the mix, say so on the call. Justin can plan the rest of the load around it, and you won't be surprised by what's left in the corner when he drives off.
How Justin gets heavy pieces out of the building
Justin starts by looking at the path out. He checks the doorways, the turn at the bottom of the basement stairs and anything that has to be moved to clear a line to the door. The small stuff comes out first so the way is open, then the big pieces go one at a time. Stairs are part of the work, up or down. He loads the Ford F-150 as he goes and packs it tight so it all goes in as few trips as possible.
On a rental unit, a storage room or an office, Justin works it out with the manager ahead of time. He asks where to park and which pieces stay with the unit. The two-hour arrival window lets a manager or a tenant plan when to have the door unlocked.
Where each piece goes once it's out
Once the pieces are out, Justin sorts the load by where each thing can go. A dresser or table with life left in it is offered for donation first, to Arc, Goodwill or Habitat for Humanity. Metal, from bed frames to a rusted weight rack, goes to a Colorado Springs metal recycler. Concrete and brick, like pavers pulled up from a patio, go to a recycling center and get recycled.
Whatever is too broken to give away or recycle ends up at East Landfill or Midway Landfill, or goes through the El Paso County transfer station.
